Johanna Braeunlich - her artist's pseudonym is ANNUSCH - is mainly a ceramist. She learned this discipline, where craftsmanship is key, when she followed a pottery course in Germany. Making something from scratch that has 'feeling' in it is her greatest passion. She puts her soul into everything she makes. “All pieces of my collection – drawings and paintings, cups, teapots, vases, bowls, urns, etc. — have been created with awareness, love and care. I turn mud into beauty. And then I spread the beauty.”
After her vocational training in Germany, she lived and worked for a time as a ceramist in Nepal and India. She also studied Fine Arts and Ceramics at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle, Germany and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 2006 she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since 2008 she has been working from her own studio in Almere. Additionally to ceramics, she also makes drawings, paintings and other art objects. Furthermore, Baeunlich gives various workshops in modelling to children.
